I was angry with liberals in L.A., D.C. and all points in between, but I had to LIVE with the especially annoying bleeding-hearted, back stabbing and hypocritical dolts of Hollywood. I was angry living there and angry as I drove away. Something weird happened to me in the heartland…

Over the last two days of driving east along Interstates 40 and 44 two emotional weather fronts collided in the front seat of my crossover SUV:  The Cold Front being the pathetic, disgusting and racist policies of liberals, led by the Obama administration have come to the fore 100% (We’ve always known they were there, now others are catching on). The Warm Front? America.

As I drove along the news on the XM talk stations was about the Black Panthers being coddled and the Tea Party being villified as racist. When I heard Shelia Jackson-Lee’s “pulled off their hoods” KKK comment, I just about hit the roof…actually, I did. With my fist, I punded the roof of my car.  This is where God and country come in: Almost immediately, God stepped in and had me look out the window. As I gazed, I remembered the past 48 hours of truckstops, motels and restaurants. I remembered the food, the people who served it and those I sat with. I thought about the smiles, the kind phrases and gratitude for my business. I thought about the visions one can only soak in while driving from coast to coast in America. Only here can you start off a day next to a painted desert mesa and end it endless-sky farm country.

All of these things reminded my of why I am optimistic even when I THINK I’m doom and gloomish: Yes, it is an ugly, dangerous situation we’re living through. Yes, we are currently under attack from within. Yes, there are citizens who have been indoctrinated. While this guy and his socialist pals may have the keys right now, we’ll get them back soon enough. While Obama may be doing loads of damage, we’ll repair it. It’s kind of like how all of us normal people think about the environment and the lie of global warming. We KNOW the earth has been here for billions of years. It’s all so much bigger than us, and will survive for billions more, even if we TRIED to kill it. Similarly, America is so much bigger and greater than a wild pack of marxists. She is too deep and loving and welcoming to be trifled with by a daft thug like Obama and his ilk.

Just when my rage and fury were getting the best of me, I calmed down and looked around. I took a breath and thought about the smiles, the thank yous and the wishes for a safe journey. Barack, Rahm and the rest got nothin’ on all the greatness America is. No matter how much they hate her. America is NOT what they want the world to think she is. No matter how hard they try, America will never be the socialist dump they want it to be. We’ll get her back on track, and ensure that America will always be what I’ve experinced in the days I’ve been driving east from L.A….

America the beautiful. America the strong. America the smile and the hand up. America the tolerant and inclusive. America the Rockwell painting and baseball. America the Jewish and Christian. America the soldier and his family. America the factory and the farm. America the poor and the rich and the in between. America the billboard and the biscuit. America the cowboy and the Indian. America the great superhighway and the dusty dirt road. America good and bad, but much more good.

Like the song tells us to, we gotta stand beside her. Now.

The Coffee Roaster in Sherman Oaks where cute brilliant Conservatives are sure to be found.

I’m sitting here on formerly vibrant Ventura Blvd in formerly lovely Sherman Oaks, CA at the always good Coffee Roaster. It’s a small mom
and pop that does really well in spite of it’s location a half block from Starbucks.

So I’m sipping and thinking about how badly I need to write a new article, and how hard it is for me to think of something about which
to write. Then Punk and Slob walked by. Two stubble-headed, scruffy-faced un-tucked embarrassments, and I was reminded of a topic I’ve been meaning to WRITE about for quite some time…

What the heck has become of some people’s appearance? I mean this in terms of how they sound as well as look. Punk and Slob were awful in both regards. Each was wearing filthy jeans which were slung below their hips exposing their underwear their heads were shaved in a sloppy menacing way, and one was walking a savage looking pit bill. As they walked past me, as if on cue, I heard the following, “…so I said I’ll punch your **cking face in and p*ss on your girlfriend. Really, these guys were just lovely. In the spirit of intellectual honesty I curse like a sailor but not in public, and (generally) not in mixed company.

I’m seeing more and more pigs these days. Both men and women of all ages. I don’t have a low threshold either. I know when I’m looking at a mom who had to run to the store in pajama bottoms because the baby needed milk, just like I know when someone is just letting it go for a day.  That’s usually because there’s some clue as to what is normally there. The hair is pretty nice, clean shoes what have you. There’s also usually something about how they carry themselves that tells you a bit about who they are. The problem is this subset of people who look like hell, and talk like uneducated thugs at perfectly audible levels with no regard for who may be able to hear…ALL the time.

What’s really irksome about the situation is that I will be labeled by some as old-fashioned or judgmental. People will make fun of me and ask me if I think we should go back to men in suits and women wearing little gloves….YES! What is so wrong with that? What is so awful about a nation of people who feel good about themselves? A country where people hold themselves in such regard that they feel they owe it to THEMSELVES to present themselves nicely!

The reason this seems like such foreign notion is, of course, liberalism. Liberalism has succeeded in draining that kind of pride from so many people. Liberalism says stop caring, stop trying. You’re probably not going to make it -certainly not without our help- and when you don’t succeed, we’ll be there to throw you some salami and a little walking around money. Liberalism says you don’t have to take responsibility for anything, including making others uncomfortable or outright offending them. Liberalism says come as you are, and let the decent people deal with it.

The hallmark of liberalism is people being told over and over that they are not enough until they believe it and act as such. That same state of mind is also the one of the calling cards of alcoholism and other addictions. I’m an alcoholic who is nearly 5 years sober. Every single day I wake up feeling, actually KNOWING that I am not enough, that I’m not worth it. It’s been that way for a long time. There was an awful stretch where I was a slave to alcohol. I needed it to deal with everything life threw at me. I needed booze for good times and bad, because bad times sucked and good times felt undeserved.

See where I’m going here? The human spirit is meant to be free and strong and self determined. People whose spirits are broken tend to become dependent on other people and things to cope, to survive. By the grace of God, I am free, as of today from the grips of booze. I give a damn about myself because after I pray a a little each morning I know am in fact worth it, and I am the point. Every aspect of my recovery is conservatism is action. I get up early and stay up til my eyes close.  I take responsibility and show up when I say I will. I admit when I’m wrong yet I stand up for myself when I am wronged by someone else. Then I pray for them and forgive them for their transgression. I also carry the message of recovery and do my best to look after those who need looking after.

Liberalism is an addiction. And just like Big Tobacco gets fat off of people’s weakness, so do liberal politicians.  The goal of liberal leaders is to get people addicted to government. They NEED broken, dispirited people sucking on the federal breast. Today’s democrats are not JFK-type democrats. They need as many people as possible to have their first thought be, “What can the government do for me?” They create a feeling of worthlessness, of not being enough. They create the agony of desperation while promising to ease the pain. Once addicted, they get a voter for life.

Humanitarian and Gift From God, Sean Penn was asked about people who have been criticizing his efforts in Haiti as being a show or self-serving. Sean Penn -Humanitarian- said this: “I haven’t had an awful lot of time to pay attention to them. Do I hope that those people die screaming of rectal cancer? Yeah, you know, but I’m not going to spend a lot of energy on it.” He can say that…he can say that. Now, most anybody else in any other strata of society says something like that, and they’re hung out to dry. The media would pillory them in the town square, and any career or aspirations would be over. But not for Sean Penn.

Sean Penn -Shitbag- can say whatever he damn well pleases because he sends money and makes sure he is photographed in a boat in New Orleans. Sean Penn -Scourge on Society- is the most awful kind of generous person: The kind who throws resources at causes, and then hides behind those efforts whilst being an awful human being otherwise.

Most of the disingenuous slobs gathering at the Kodak Theater tomorrow night will be doing the same thing. These people who tell us how to live our lives, who criticize our government and support those who wish to tear it apart, will all be hiding behind ribbons of one color or another. They’ll don a dress or tux worth more than many people’s yearly salary, and then preach to us to “…give more”.

Eff that, and eff them!

Let us all please send a message to the vile liberal elite in Hollywood. Let’s let Alec Baldwin, George Clooney, Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts know that their time is up. We’re sick of them and their preachy whiny BS liberalism. LET’S BOYCOTT THE OSCAR BROADCAST TOMORROW NIGHT.

We live in a Leave It To Beaver neighborhood. The houses were built in the late 40′s early 50′s by returning GIs, many of whom were in the aerospace industry here in the San Fernando Valley. The quaint little homes on small parcels make this area a west coast Levittown, NY. Unfortunately, the majority of the people who inhabit the houses around me are nothing like the generation which built them.

One just has to stroll around the block and imagine what a shangri la this must have been in say, 1956. Everyone was grateful for what they had, and happy to share it. The Joneses were a family you had over for dinner, not the people you kept up with. Kids would play happily in the LA weather, and would respectfully say hello Mr. So and So!

Today was an exception to the LA weather rule. It rained. Hard. During a break in the clouds my wife took our 13 month old daughter out for a quick walk as both had been cooped up all day. After a few minutes, Andrea came home and called me to the front room where she stood soaking. She went on to tell me how a neighbor of ours had sped up our street and splashed her and the baby.

I let a lot of stuff go. Mainly because I’m small, and have NEVER been good at confrontation. Recently, however I’ve been playing the role of the neighborhood speed gun cop. I’ve been the douchey guy mowing his lawn and yelling at speeders to slow the hell down. By the way, these speeders are not cut-throughs or visitors. They’re neighbors. People with kids who live within our 6 or so square blocks of 50′s charm. I’ve sent out email blasts through our neighborhood association list, brought it up at meetings and spoken to anyone who’d listen out on the curb.

Up until today, I had only knocked on a door once. That was to address a ridiculously hot Asian chick who drives her massive Chevy Avalanche like Steve McQueen. Seriously, she revs the effin’ monster and peels out like a funny car, and rolls through the stop. One day she did it and lost control just slightly as she passed where some kids often play. I’d had it with her, and walked right up there. I figured the worst that could happen would be some porn scene come to life with me on the receiving end of a very humble apology…followed by her showering with my wife. Boy, can I digress? Anyway, turns out the big dude who came to the door had been approached already about Elwood Blues with the great cans. Apparently he said something to her, because she behaves herself these days.

Well, the thought of my baby being fouled by street water was enough to send me out the door without thinking twice. Andrea described the car and the general location of the drive it turned into. There it was: Smallish white car, diagonal to the right, fresh wet tire marks. As I walked up the driveway, the woman who lives there happened to be outside. I explained what happened. She said she hadn’t been out. I pointed to tire marks, and she finally gave up her aunt. I said my wife and daughter’s safety far outweighed my desire to be  a friendly neighbor, and that she better tell her aunt to take it friggin’ easy on MY street. Yep, I’m a badass now.

What’s the point of all this? Where’s the conservatism? It’s here: The liberals in LA have a special kind of stink. It’s an arrogant attitude that you simply must experience for yourself. They simply have NO concept of how their actions, words etc. affect the people around them. They feel by voting a certain way and cutting checks to right feel-good organizations they go and do as they please with no ramifications…because there rarely are any consequences. The yard signs in my area were 100% liberal. I mean that too. There were JOHN EDWARDS signs all over the place! You would think based on the literature and commercials during the campaign about these altruistic, fair-minded people who feel your pain, that my neighborhood would be an inviting, tolerant place where people follow rules and lend a hand. With a tiny few exceptions, nothing could be further from the truth. I am surrounded by some of the most selfish, mean-spirited foul people I’ve ever come across. I’ve been tailgated, whizzed past and told to go eff myself. These things have happened with my daughter present, and many times with their children present as well.

Do conservatives act this way? Of course they do! Am I singling these people out for some political reason? OF COURSE I AM! I’m doing it because liberals long ago claimed a moral high ground. They have made it their industry to paint conservatives as selfish arrogant haters, when they themselves are even worse offenders based on the hypocrisy of their message.

Liberals hate. Liberals are selfish. Liberals are racists….just like everybody else.

So there.

THIS is the hate-filled email I received last night from a very liberal, apparently former friend.

I point out “liberal” lest we forget that no side has a moral high-ground, nor is hate limited to “teabaggers” and other conservatives…READ THIS:

“Dude… You’ve come a long way since making jokes about airport security while performing stand up on cruise ships… I’d like to see your right wing nut job audience react to that joke these days. The IRONY is beautiful, yet shameful.

Man, you were a cool, open minded guy back in the day… you had to be to live with all the “gays” “immigrants” “Hollywood Wannabes” and “lower deck crew” scratching and clawing for a few US dollars to make a better life for their impoverished families at home.

Holy crap you spew some hateful, contradictory, paranoid shite…When did you turn into such a schmuck? And now you’re raising a kid? That’s the real downfall of America… guys like you can breed.”

That, dear friends is hate. Not only was I called names here, but family was brought into it.  He insulted the very being of my daughter…OF MY DAUGHTER! Vile, vile scum he is. My beautiful little girl. HOW DARE HE!

Who was it? I’m not saying just yet, because I am better than this slob. He sent me a private email as opposed to a public posting on Facebook. The douchey thing this douchebag did? He douchely un-friended me before I could respond.

He hit me, and that’s kinda fun actually. But then he brought my family into it. And then he ran and hid. Like a snake. Like a rat.

Come to think of it, if he had more hair, he might even look like a rat.

This article is being written on November 9, 2009. It is the 71st anniversary of  Kristallnacht, which was the unofficial kickoff of Germany’s greatest hit, the Holocaust. I hate even typing that awful word. Of all the world’s events, that is the “n-word” of slaughters. Funny, that reference should come up, given the message of this posting…we’ll get to that.  Today is also the anniversary of  taking down the Berlin Wall, which was the unofficial kickoff of the end of the Cold War, WON by the former good-guy white hat-wearing United States of America. It took the USA to close the death camps of two regimes: The Nazis and the USSR. You’re welcome, world.

Knowing these milestones were coming up, it dawned on me just how far Germany has been allowed to move on from the horrors of World War Two, and how much America is held back from moving past the horrors of slavery.

The Thirteenth Amendment was enacted in December 1865, finally and forever freeing all slaves. Although the civil rights struggles ever since are well-noted, slavery in America ended on 12-18-1865.

The point I’m making is this: Slavery ended 144 years ago, and America is being held hostage on many levels by those who profit from racial disharmony. Our government, businesses, entertainment, education and minorities themselves are in the stranglehold of political correctness, quotas and affirmative action. No one who profited from, nor was a victim of slavery has been alive for decades…the last known living slave was Charlie Smith, who died in 1979, allegedly aged 137 years, rest his soul. Yet America lives on one perpetually-bent knee, looking over her shoulder, asking forgiveness and claiming ignorance at every turn for any word uttered and idea thought. Meanwhile, sixty-four years removed from the murder of more than six million souls, and Germany is running at full strength and sitting high in her Ivory tower; always one of the first to judge us for our awful ways.

I’m not going to genuflect here and go on and on with the obligatory list of sins of our great, yet imperfect nation. We all know what happened, and those who miss the good old days of lynching and whippings will find no friend in me or anybody I associate with. All that being said, why is it, HOW is it that we continue to pay penance for crimes committed almost a century and a half ago, yet Germany is not only welcomed but glorified by the rest of the world. The ovens are still warm, and this once-mighty nation frighteningly is now mighty again! A liberal bastion in Europe. The yardstick of civilization, whose people are praised by our progressive leaders for their leadership in environmental and social pursuits.

Not only are there living victims bearing the scars of the holocaust, but the savages who scarred them are living as well. And let us not kid ourselves, this was not carried out clandestinely by a few henchmen. Many thousands of civilians knew what was going on at the end of the train tracks behind the gates of the camps just outside their villages and cities. There are many people living and breathing who never wore a uniform, but have blood on their hands and in their souls.

What a disparity, what a double standard. By the way, don’t think you’ll win this one with a reference to voting rights or segregation. Not only have both of those wrongs been righted, but how dare you sully the memory of those murdered with those whose feelings were hurt, who were not allowed to pull a lever. I’m not discounting any of that, of course. However, I am saying I’ll take disenfranchisement over mass murder any day. I’ll take a separate lunch counter and mean words instead of Anne Frank’s fate, thank you very much.

If the true racists of this country, namely the likes of the Congressional Black Caucus et al want to secure racial harmony they should do the right thing, and let this nation once and for all live freely and fairly; unencumbered by a perpetual state of apology for sins committed hundreds of years ago and reconciled over and over. If they refuse to do that, then they should do the honorable thing and refuse to acknowledge the reunification of Germany. They should denounce THAT nation and scold them on a daily basis for the next 90 years. THEN I would agree with those racists about something.

For most of my life, I fantasized about accepting an award on TV and using the moment to gloat. In my dreams I would verbally give the finger to any and all persons whom I determined had done me wrong. Ex girlfriends, former employers,  tough guys in school and jerks who gave me bad reviews on cruise ships. They would all feel so small as I delivered the line, “…How ’bout DEM apples, huh? You jerks! You SOBs! You thought YOU had the apples, and you’re wrong!  I do! You can all KISS MY ASS!!!!” In the fantasy the apples were of course, shiny things, money and broads who didn’t speak English fighting over who would sit on my lap in the limo.

That was the fantasy of an angry young man with effed up priorities. Sure, I still would love as many shiny things as possible, please. But as I move forward in life, I would gladly trade all the cool stuff for the health and safety of my family and friends. The mere fact that I still have my family and friends in my life is such a gift. To be honest, my being alive is a gift as well.

I have a wife who loves me, and a daughter who laughs at the funny things I do. I have a healthy, loving family back east who support every thing I do. My in-laws are the most generous patient people walking the earth, and my friends are numerous and beautiful. I have a loyal fan base which takes the time to listen to my radio show EVERY day, and make me feel good about the work I’m doing.

My relationship with God is more two-way than it’s ever been, and the opportunities in my career are numerous.

I’m loved, I’m alive, I’m a father, I’m sober and I’m going to kiss my wife right now.

How ’bout them apples?

For the past 7 years I’ve had really nice cars. First a Mercedes when we were making tons of dough, and had very little overhead. Next a Jaguar-for the sake of full disclosure we were so vain that we had his and her’s Jags, her’s Silver, mine Blue. Then we bought a house, and Andi slid into a practical Honda CRV, and your writer Lord Fauntleroy got myself a Cadillac CTS. The friggin’ nerve of me. Truth be told, it was a ridiculous lease deal that honestly was less expensive than a Camry or Accord.

Over the past two years, we’ve lost nearly $100,000 in the value of our house, our business is off by about 25% and oh yeah, we have a little Irish meatball named Millie whom we created and lives in the under-water house with us. While watching the financial demise of what seems like the entire universe, we have just about held on. Now I am wired to run and hide when the pressure is on. I hate the term “man-up”. When the going gets tough, I prefer to lie down. I don’t wanna know. No news is good news, so don’t open the mail, don’t go to the doctor and certainly DON’T answer the phone.

Well, having a baby can change a man. Knowing one’s self  better can change a man. ACTUALLY counting one’s blessings can change a man. In other words, I’m a changed man. Instead of virtually running from this, by the grace of God I have been meeting these challenges head on. I have been working harder to get ahead. I have been reaching out to and surrounding myself with people who I strive to be like. But for all my efforts, nothing felt like I was making a dent until yesterday.

Yesterday, while sitting in the Cadillac dealership about to sign to buy a new Cadillac SRX, I knew something was wrong. I think it may have been the acid in my stomach that could have stripped the Caddy of its paint. Seriously, my PH level was in such disarray, that I felt sour from my hair to my ankles. I breathed a few deep ones, and determined that not only don’t I need a Cadillac, but right now, I don’t need any car at all.

Ever since then, I have felt so good about myself. There is something so great about not only taking responsibility, but DOING the responsible THING. I actually feel more qualified to hold my daughter and tell her I love her. I feel less full of shite. I feel good about myself.

All of this brings to mind those in this country who have fallen under the spell of the tragedy that is liberalism. Those poor people who by virtue of their victim status and apathy will never know this vitality I am feeling. I realized I was breaking my own spirit by lying to myself, by avoiding the truth that money is tight right now. Simple. Where’s the shame? Shame is putting your baby in jeopardy to satisfy your own vanity. Shame is in grandiosity and being judgmental.

It is actually exciting to be exercising my conservative muscles here. I’m taking responsibility, helping myself and learning along the way. I’m being selfless and diligent. I am not blaming anybody for the situation and I am not hiding in fear. I am staying in the solution, and praying for guidance and the strength to carry it out.

Yesterday I swallowed my pride, and ever since, I’ve been burping up a feeling being proud…two different things. One very bad metaphor, and two very different things.

What would the liberals have me do? What do you think?

After watching my Yanks finally figure out the L.A. Angels, I left the channel on and half-watched the post game show as I booked an airline ticket. They were doing a feature on a ballplayer named Kendry Morales, a defector from Cuba. I started really paying attention as he described the events leading up to his defection. It was pretty intense. You see, he didn’t just tip out the door of a hotel while competing in a free country or jump a fence at an embassy screaming “Asylum!” No no no, he did it the old fashioned way. The real Cuban way. After much planning and a few botched attempts, he and a handful of other freedom-seekers crammed into a crappy rowboat and made the shark-infested voyage to the USA. He described having to sneak around as rumors spread in his village of his impending escape…linger on that word for a minute. Escape. He spoke of not knowing who was working for or informing the government. He said if the government found out it would be over. He didn’t elaborate on what “it” was.

Right about then, I flashed to news from this summer. Those comments we heard from the esteemed members of our Congressional Black Caucus about the thuggish brute who has ruled with fear and violence. “It was quite a moment to behold.” Barbara Lee(D-CA) I’m sure it was, you America-hating soulless woman. Dig Bobby Rush(D-Ill) “I think that what really surprised me, but also endeared me to him, was his keen sense of humor, his sense of history and his basic human qualities.” “It was almost like listening to an old friend.” It gets better…“In my household I told Castro he is known as the ultimate survivor,” Rush said.

Laura Richardson another D from CA helped the cause with this one, “He looked right into my eyes and he said, ‘How can we help? How can we help President Obama?’” That one causes an awful confluence of physical reactions in me: It makes my hair stand up, while I dry heave. I SHUDDER to think of the wish list they would give Uncle Fidel: Gulags, or just plain labor camps for the dissidents? Torture rooms or just solitary? Tips on firing squads for those who speak out?

I am sick of the tap dance, the qualifiers. These people hate America. They think America is wrong. they think America is unjust. Not just segments. Not just the south. AMERICA. The WWII-winning, world-liberating aid-providing America. ALL of America is what they hate. This is just one disgusting group of America haters. They are joined by the Barbara Boxers, the Sean Penns and the William Ayerses. I truly believe now, that they all DO want to disassemble the U.S.A. and build it back again in their Statist image.

HOW DARE the media let these vile people get away with this? The media should be the first in line to expose this dismantle-America movement, for if America is changed (that WORD) like they want to, the media will be the first to go. The media will be there to give first hand accounts, which no one will read of the buses unloading in the New Gulags.

Is this really possible? Can we really imagine this? Yes we can.
